What is Heart Strings?
My name is Holly. I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, niece, and friend.I am a stay at home mommy with two beautiful children. I started crocheting when I was pregnant with my daughter three years ago, I have to say, I am not very good. But I enjoy it. I find it relaxing and I can crochet a circle. Those of you experienced knitters out there probably find that ridiculously funny, but do you know what a circle can make? a sack. Do you know what a sack can make? a breast! Well, not exactly but it can fill a bra cup. We call them "crochet boobies" - I decided I would take my crocheted breasts and donate them to women who have had mastectomies. You can put them in the cups of your bra, it works great. No, it's not the real thing -but it works. Since, my family and friends who want to wear a bigger cup size have had me make them for them too. They love them, who needs a push up bra when you have this!?
I make them from baby yarn, which is soft against the skin. They are filled with a rice bag. Some are made with a button so that you can remove the rice bag and you can hand wash the crochet cover. Some people don't like the buttons, so I do make them without, although you can't wash them.
If you are a breast cancer patient or survivor and you'd like me to send you one or two please email me your story. For breast cancer patients/survivors the "crochet boobies" are a gift, free, from me to you.
If you would like a pair to fill a bigger bra, I charge $25 for a pair, all of the proceeds go to buying yarn, gift bags, and cards for cancer patients/survivors who receive our "crochet boobies".
When you email me, don't forget to include your cup size and if you'd like your boobies a specific color. If you don't ask for a specific color, you will receive a pair of pink boobies.
If you'd like to order some or learn more, contact me at sistersheartstrings@yahoo.com
I believe that all women are touched by this devastating cancer and it is all of our jobs to do all that we can to help and encourage our sisters who are in the fight. This is my string that ties us together. We, sisters are tied together with heart strings. <3
